Composition

Like the previous "Jar of Hearts" single, "Arms" was built around a melodic piano. Although the song "wraps a bit less" than Perri's main song, the song still contains "drunk" emotions that usually refer to Perri's music style. The song started as a slow love song and deviated into an up-tempo song as kick-drums entered the song midway. Lyrics, Perri started the song happily, sang "I never thought you would be the person holding my heart/you came and you dropped me from the beginning." More into the song, Perri begins to question the relationship, finally finding comfort as she ends the song repeating the hook. The "Arms" evolved from an eloquent ballad to a good melodic love song, combining a tympanic drum.

Perri describes the song in depth, stating "'Weapons' is about the battle between your heart and your mind.Your heart wants to be loved but your head always tells you the reason for not being with him, or how you do not deserve love. This is about the struggle and finally giving up when You are wrapped in their arms, then you get it, then you feel loved and love wins. Critical reception

Amorosi from The Philadelphia Inquirer enjoys the sound of muffling Perri and changing the backup reserve setting in â € Å"Armsâ €. Stating that the song was filled with "guitar shoots and piano clinking dusty", Chad Grischow from IGN stated that the song encouraged the innocent and melodic Perri vocals that made one of the better love songs switched off. > Lovestrong .

Music video

Perri revealed on her blog that "epic music video" will be coming soon. The music video for the single was taken over a two-day period described by Perri as "a two-day photo shoot that kicked my ass so hard." Perri has co-written the care videos themselves. Speaking of video concepts, Perri stated that he took a physical blow as he played a super hero during filming, where he jokingly added "I do not know why I thought I was an action hero." For the flying scene, he was involved in several weeks of training. The first song's music video on VH1 on April 28, 2011. The video then appears over the weekend on VH1 ' "Top 20 Countdown", April 30, May 1, and May 3. The video was added to Perri's official YouTube account the day after the official release of the video.

Synopsis and acceptance

The video begins with Perri lying in bed with her boyfriend (played by actor and model, John Andersson) as she sings the words of the song looking directly at the camera. When the camera is enlarged, it indicates that the bed is located in a mountain meadow. When Perri closed her eyes to sleep, the video then began to take the dream-sequence theme. In her dream, Perri was being carried away on her bed sheet over the body of water where she was dropped. Perri's scenes are disrupted as he sleeps in interlaced into the video as it continues. As Perri continues to dream, she emerges from the water into the night storm and is pulled onto a boat by two unknown people who start playing musical instruments to knock the song. When Perri appeared on the boat, a group of black balloons wrapped around black bands around Perri's arm, and took her to the sky above London and then on an open field. As Perri approaches the open field, she frees herself from the balloon ribbon and falls safely to the BMW Mini. Perri then pushes Mini back to the location of her bed and runs into the arms of her boyfriend played by actor and model, John Andersson as part of the end of the music video.

VH1 states that conceptually, the video is a "winner", adding that the most fun part of the video is vocal close-up, which allows Perri to sing the song. VH1 dismissed the rains of video when Perri was rescued on board, saying it "did not look very important" but complemented the band's addition.

This video so far, until April 2017, has been viewed 49.2 million times on YouTube's official YouTube account.

Video lyrics

Perri revealed a lyrical music video for the single, released on March 15, 2011. The video was directed by Elliot Sellers, who also made lyric videos for other songs released by Perri. This video took over 3,000 photos to create. The whole video is taken behind an ancient projector, is a song lyric projected on the side of an empty tent.
