? ÃÆ' L? t ( Vietnamese pronunciation: Ã, [? ÃÆ'  ¢: lÃÆ': t] Ã, ( listen ) ), or Dalat (pop 406.105 in 2015, where 350,509 are city dwellers), is the capital of LÃÆ'¼Åm ?? ng Province in Vietnam. The city is located 1,500 m (4,900 ft) above sea level at Langbian Plateau in the southern part of the Central Highlands region. In Vietnam, Da Lat is a popular tourist destination.

Specific scenes of Da Lat are pine wood (forming the name: "City of thousands of pine trees") with winding roads and marigold trees (Vietnam: p> w? ) blooming in winter. The weather being in this city is in stark contrast to Vietnam's otherwise tropical climate. The mist covering the valley most of the year leads to its name "The City of Eternal Spring".

Da Lat is also known as an area for scientific research in biotechnology and nuclear physics.

With the cool weather throughout the year, Da Lat supplies moderate agricultural products for all of Vietnam, for example: cabbage and cauliflower. The flower industry produces two distinct flowers: hydrangea (Vietnam: c? M tÃÆ'º c? U ) and golden everlasting (Vietnam: hoa b? T t ). The confectionery industry offers a wide variety of m? T , a kind of fruit preservation that is very similar to varenie, made of strawberries, mulberry, sweet potatoes, and/or roses.

Name

According to some sources, the name derives from the acronym of the Latin phrase 'Dat Aliis Laetitiam Aliis Temperiem' ("It Gives Pleasure to Some, Freshness to Others"), which the French colonial government used in their official emblem? ÃÆ' L? t. In fact, Da Lat's name comes from the language of the local L ethnic group? T and the original meaning is "Stream of the L? T", and the above acronym is actually backcronym.

History

During the 1890s, explorers in the area (including renowned bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin, protà © © © gà © © © of the renowned French chemist Louis Pasteur), then a part of the French colony of Cochinchina, asked the French governor-general , Paul Doumer, to create a resort center in the highlands. The governor agreed. The original intended site for the hill station is Dankia, but ÃÆ'â € ° tienne Tardif, a member of the road construction expedition of 1898-99, proposed this site instead. In 1907, the first hotel was built. Town planning is done by Ernest HÃÆ'  © brard.

France endowed the city with its villas and streets, and its Swiss charm remained to this day. HÃÆ' Â © brard includes necessary health complexes, golf courses, parks, schools, and homes but no industry. The legacy of the pesantren where children from all over Indochina were taught by French priests, nuns and expatriates still existed until the end of 1969. In 1929, the Christian Alliance and Missionaries established schools (Dalat International School) for Canadian and American children of missionaries serving in Southeast Asia. In 1965, the school was moved to Bangkok, Thailand; then in 1966 to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia and then, in June 1971, moved to its present location in Georgetown, Malaysia. There are Jesuit seminaries (such as Pius X Pontifical College) and other orders. The elite Vietnamese National Military Academy passed the first class of its future leader in 1950. There is an aviation school at Cam Ly Airport.

During World War II, Da Lat was the capital of the Indochina Federation, from 1939 to 1945.

In the mid-1950s, Vietnam Scout Association established their national training ground in Da Lat.

The only major involvement of Da Lat during the Vietnam War was in the Tet Tetan offensive of 1968. Fierce battles raged from 31 January to 9 February 1968. Most of the fighting took place between the South Vietnamese MP units stationed in Da Lat and Vi troops? T C? Ng (VC). American lawmakers were also involved in the fighting and suffered several MCHs during rocket attacks on their compound. Defeat and victory alternated between the two during a sporadic-yet-intense battle. However, South Vietnamese lawmakers can finally regain control? ÃÆ' L? T. It was stated that about 200 VCs were killed in action (KIA) during this battle. Although South Vietnamese MP forces are known to have significantly fewer KIAs, their wounded list is getting more stable during the engagement due to low supply and support periods. What ultimately saves South Vietnamese lawmakers is the fact that they hold a strong defensive position throughout Da Lat from the beginning to the end of the battle.

Architecture

Architecture? ÃÆ' L? T is dominated by the style of the French colonial period. ? ÃÆ' L? T Railway Station, built in 1938, is designed in the style of Art Deco architecture by French architects Moncet and Reveron, although it combines the high and tall roof features of Cao Nguyen communal buildings of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The three roofs depict an art deco version of Trouville-Deauville Station Normandy. The unique design of the station - with its roofs, curved ceilings, and colored glass windows - made it recognized as a national historical monument in 2001. They designed the LycÃÆ' Â © e Yersin, which opened in 1927. Dominion Mary Church and Monastery, home to a Roman Catholic nun from the Charity Mission, was built in 1938 with a similar pointed roof style.

Of special note is the unconventional architecture of Wisma H? Ng Nga, known as "Crazy House". Described as a "fairytale house", the overall design resembles a giant banyan tree, combining sculptural design elements that represent natural shapes such as animals, fungi, cobwebs, and caves. Its architecture, which consists of complex, organic, non-rectilinear forms, has been described as an expressionist. Its creator, the Vietnamese architect Dang Viet Nga (also known as H? Ng Nga), who has a PhD in architecture from Moscow State University, has recognized the inspiration of the Spanish architect Catalan Antoni GaudÃÆ' in the design of the building. Visitors have a variety of similarities between homesteads and works of artists such as Salvador DalÃÆ' and Walt Disney. Since it opened in 1990, the building has gained recognition of its unique architecture, highlighted in various guidebooks and listed as one of the top ten most "weird" buildings in the People's Daily China. While looking funny, this plot was let down by construction debris and household rubbish behind the facade, and a lack of attention to security issues.
