Histori

George A. Boeckling, general manager of Cedar Point, believes that the longer guests stay at Cedar Point, the more profitable the resort is. Two hotels in the park at the time, Bay Shore Hotel, which has 20 rooms and 125-room White House Hotel, had difficulty meeting the demands of the evening diners. So, Boeckling made plans to build a big hotel on the beach resort. Staying with Boeckling's vision of Cedar Point as "Coney Island of the West", he began building the grandest hotel in the resort. Hotel Breakers opened on 12 June 1905, featuring 600 rooms, most with views of Lake Erie. Each room including running water and a hundred others has a private bath, a rare thing for a hotel at that time. Hotel Breakers Cafe sits 400 guests. The hotel was designed by Knox & amp; The architectural firm of Elliott and influenced by the Boeckling chateaus has seen it while traveling in France.

The hotel lobby features round chairs, which remain a tradition of Cedar Point. The ceilings are elaborately arranged and include chandeliers made by Tiffany artists. The hotel's original facilities include imported rattan furniture, large brass beds, manicurists, doctors, tailors, stenographers, salons, news kiosks, ice cream shops and souvenir kiosks. Adjacent to the lobby is a four-storey rotunda featuring four levels of balconies, which remain at the hotel. Singers from the Metropolitan Opera gave impromptu performances in the rotunda from their balconies during the 1910s and 1920s.

The new wings were added to the Breakers in 1917 so the number of rooms became over 700. The 160-room Water Wing's wings were added to the north side in 1926, bringing the number of rooms to 875. In 1935, the Breakers Hotel was modernized and Tavern Terrace was added in close proximity hotel. The outdoor stage area provides entertainment and cocktails served.

In 1995, the hotel added Breakers East, which features 206 rooms, including 103 common rooms, 95 suites, and eight tower suites. The US $ 10,000,000 (equivalent to $ 16,060,275 in 2017) The Breakers East project also features three conference/meeting rooms and an outdoor pool and spa. Breakers East is located on a five-hectare site east of the Breakers Hotel lobby. The Breakers Tower's 10-storey wing was added to Hotel Breakers in 1999 with a five-storey connecting link located west of the historic Hotel Breakers and rotunda lobby. Breakers Tower has a total of 230 rooms and suites, including 17 luxury suites with private balconies.

It was designated as the US National Historic Landmark in 1987 but was changed significantly in 1999 with the dismantling of several historic wings. After the demolition, the hotel was not designed, because it was abolished on August 7, 2001.

Cedar Point announces a two-year renovation of the hotel will begin in 2013. The renovations include repainting the hotel, replacing the roofs, and remodeling the interior out of season after the summer of 2014. Renovation is the largest cost project ever at Cedar Point.
