The Office of Electrical Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) is the program office within the United States Department of Energy. OE's mission is "to lead national efforts to modernize the power grid, improve security and reliability of energy infrastructure, and facilitate recovery from energy supply disruptions."

Responsibility
The Office is responsible for leading efforts to modernize the power grid. This is done through the development and implementation of national policies relating to the reliability of the electricity grid, and through the management of research, development and demonstration activities for "next generation" power infrastructure infrastructure technology. The Office analyzes electrical congestion, designation of National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors, coordination of energy corridors throughout the federal territory, and labor issues associated with the electric utility industry.
The Office of Electrical Delivery and Energy Reliability works with the US Department of Homeland Security and other agencies to improve the security of the nation's important energy infrastructure.

Organization
This office is under the general supervision of the Secretary of Under Energy for Energy and Environment. The office is managed by the Assistant Secretary of Energy for Electrical Delivery and Energy Reliability (ASE-OE), designated by the President of the United States. The current ASE-OE is Patricia A. Hoffman, who was appointed by President Barack Obama in June 2010. The Assistant Secretary is assisted in running the Office by three Deputy Assistant Secretaries, all of whom are career employees. Each Deputy Assistant Secretary oversees the different branches of the Office work.
