US. Open Sandcastle Competition is the largest sand castle competition in the United States and among the top 10 sandcastle competitions, according to Travel Channel. The Open US Open Sandcastle Competition is an annual summer weekend event held in Imperial Beach, California and is open to the public.
The event starts on Friday with a community breakfast and dancing to start the event and is followed by a two-day public event on Saturdays and Sundays consisting of children's sandcastle, amateur and professional building contests. Builders compete for cash prizes. The event also includes street shows, featuring local and regional vendors, as well as entertainment.
The Open US Open Sandcastle Competition has last year at Imperial Beach in 2011, due to a lack of resources and volunteers. It was replaced in 2013 by Imperial Beach's Sun & amp; The Sea Festival, which includes a sand castle competition for children.

History
The competition began in 1981 when a group of Imperial Beach residents formed the first Sandcastle Days Committee. The US Open Sandcastle Competition Committee is a non-profit group and part of the proceeds from the event is beneficial for Boys & amp; Girls Clubs of America. Over the years, the event has grown to attract more than 325,000 viewers.

Events
The Kids-N-Kastles competition is held on Saturdays and is open for children aged 12 and under. The competition has three categories: castles, the best sculptures, and sea creatures. Teams were allowed to sculpt from 2-3: 30 nights and then winners and winning prize prizes were announced from 4 to 5 pm. on the main stage.
On Sundays, amateur and professional teams compete for more than $ 21,000 in cash prizes. Professional teams compete in the Masters category, which is shared between a team of three people and 10 people. In the 10-person category, $ 5,000 was awarded to the Master's first prize. Second place won $ 3,000 and third place $ 2,000. In the three-person category, the first place wins $ 2,500 and the second place is $ 1,500. Amateur teams compete in an "open" competition divided into 5 categories: Your Mind Castle, Best Statue, Best Replica, Marine Creatures, and Executive Sandbox, which are business-sponsored teams. First place wins $ 1,000, second place $ 500, third place $ 200 and fourth place $ 100. All teams are sculpted from 9 am till 2 pm Due to tides, sculptures can only be seen until 4 pm.
Street shows are held on Saturdays and Sundays and are located on Seacoast Drive. Entertainment includes local bands performing on the main stage at Pier Plaza.
