Ikhtisar
Trevor McNevan founded the band in Peterborough, Ontario, a town in northeast Toronto, where he went to high school. Joel Bruyere, born in Brantford, Ontario, is a childhood friend of McNevan who has moved away but keep in touch with him. Drummer Steve Augustine is from Hamilton, Ontario. McNevan's first band was Oddball , featuring Dave Smith on guitar, Tim Baxter on bass and McNevan's best friend, Three Days Grace's Neil Sanderson, on drums. Oddball only recorded one album, Shutterbug , released in 1995. McNevan was a founding member of TFK (with original guitarist Dave Smith), formed in 1997 in Peterborough, Ontario. McNevan came up with the name TFK "symbolizes the point in our lives that we realize we can not make with our own strength". He has written and released seven albums with Thousand Foot Krutch to date and four others with his side project FM Static.
TFK has worked with Aaron Sprinkle (Mae/Anberlin/MxPx), Gavin Brown (Three Days of Grace/Billy Talent/Thornley), Arnold Lanni (Our Lady Peace/Finger Eleven) and Ken Andrews (Beck/Chris Cornell/Pete Yorn/Tenacious D) on their last three Gigi and Nail-released notes.

History
Shutterbug (1995-1996)
Shutterbug was released by Trevor McNevan in 1995 under the band name Oddball. McNevan has friends Dave Smith (guitar), Tim Baxter (bass) and Neil Sanderson (drums), playing on the album. There are 27 songs on the album, the first half rock, the second half of hip-hop. McNevan recorded it in Barry Haggarty's studio in his hometown, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. He works at McDonald's and other jobs to pay for studio time. The song "Lift It," first appeared here and then re-recorded for the first release of Thousand Foot Krutch That What People Do and appeared again on Set It Off.
That's what the people are doing (1997-1999)
That's What People Do was written in McNevan's year to start TFK in 1997. It was released independently in 1998 and not printed. It sold over 5,000 copies. TFK climbed the ladder of local fame throughout Ontario and abroad. Reaching the ears of Ontario's commercial radio, CKWF 101.5 FM in their home town of Peterborough added "Rhyme Animal", the band's first single from their independent recording, to their rotation. It clicked with the listener and within two months ended up being one of the five most requested songs of the year. In 1999, TFK was selected by 7 Ball Magazine as one of the top 25 bands in North America. They were also awarded the "Best Indie Recording" and McNevan was awarded "Vocalist of the Year" by readers of The Wire Magazine. They were later awarded the "Band of the Year" at the 2000 Wire Awards. They were also voted the No.1 millennium band at 100.3 FM in Barrie, Ontario.
Set It Off (2000-2002 )
Set It Off was released on 14 November 2000. This is the first indie label release of the group. The sound of the album differs in music that is strongly influenced by hip-hop nu metal, and although some songs from the recordings (including "Wayang" and "Supafly") impact on secular and Christian radios, the band gained almost entirely fame through self-promotion and mouth to the mouth. The band toured extensively throughout North America and eventually garnered much of the label's attention by selling 85,000 copies of indie releases from their vans. The band also printed the limited version of "Pre-release" edition of "Set It Off" sold only at their release party at The Gordon Best Theater in Peterborough, Ontario for their local fans. TFK toured with Finger Eleven, Econoline Crush, Treble Charger, The Tea Party, Matthew Good Band, Gob, Sum 41 and others. Three Days Grace, which was the closing band at the time, was a routine support for TFK. McNevan helped with the recording of Three Days Grace demo album. He also appeared on their song "This Movie" from this album. Around this same time, Dave Smith left the group, making McNevan the only real member. Smith was replaced by Myke Harrison, who split up about a year later. After the departure of Dave Smith, McNevan began writing all the guitar lines and the band has been using live guitar players rather than officially replacing them.
Tracking seven of these albums, entitled "Unbelievable" - a cover of an EMF song of the same name - appeared on the soundtrack for the 2010 film "Just Wright".
Phenomenon (2003-2004)
In 2003, the band signed a contract with Tooth & amp; Nail Records after a long time considering and releasing a critically acclaimed second full-length CD, Phenomenon . Although something of a departure from the heavy-rap sound of Set i Off, Phenomenon is still reliant on McNevan's rhythmic vocals, albeit with solid modern metal sound. Phenomenon was well received, and spawned 4 popular radio singles, including "Rawkfist" anthemic. CD sold 200,000 units making it one of the best-selling albums in Tooth & amp; Nail history. They continued this success with the 2004 birthday release of Set it Off via Tooth & amp; Nails, allowing for larger prints and adding 6 tracks, including five of "That's What People Do", and one new song "Everyone Like Me", produced by Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace/Billy Talent/Thornley).
At the same time, McNevan and Augustine started a side band called FM Static, which can be classified as pop-punk or pop/rock bands and usually much lighter. FM Static scored many number 1 hits, including their songs "Crazy Mary", and "Something to Believe in." In 2004, they toured with Kutless on a "Sea of ââFaces" tour alongside Falling Up and FM Static.
The Art of Breaking (2005- 2006)
On July 19, 2005, they released their third full album The Art of Breaking , produced by Arnold Lanni (Our Lady of Peace/Finger Eleven). The album almost made a complete break from the sound of the nu metal phenomenon, focusing more on heavy elements. The record was the first to feature a short guitar solo as well. The Art of Breaking was well received from fans, although some criticized the album style changes. Single "Move" peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in early 2006. Other singles include "Absolute" and "Breathe You In", which was released to alternative radio and was one of the band's first slow songs. During this time the band toured extensively.
Flame in All of Us (2007 -2008)
After working in the studio with producer Ken Andrews (Beck/Chris Cornell/Pete Yorn/Tenacious D/Mae) they released The Flame in All of Us on September 18, 2007, by moving to a more mainstream rock sound , with some heavy influences from bands like our Canadian fellow Canadian Peace & amp; various other metal bands. The album featured the single "Falls Apart", "What We Know?", "Favorite Sickness" and "Flame in All of Us". On January 20, 2008, "Flame in All of Us" became the 1000th song ever on the ChristianRock.Net Top 30 Chart. Also at Purevolume.com, Thousand Foot Krutch was the favorite artist on July 2, 2007 and August 26, 2007.
In 2006, McNevan got involved with TobyMac and helped him write the song "Ignition" found on Portable Sounds. This song has been used in many TV/movie shows including Monday Night Football and NASCAR. Therefore, in the spring of 2007 the band became part of the TobyMac Portable Sounds tour. The tour was so successful that Toby asked them to do the fall tour as well.
The next tour was in the spring of 2008 when the band toured with Skillet and Decyfer Down. TFK performed with P.O.D., Chevelle, Sevendust, 10 Years, Daughtry, Red and many other bands on this album. After a long summer festival and one holiday, they immediately support for the first Creation Festival: The Tour. The tour consists of the following nine bands: Kutless, TFK, Pillar, KJ-52, Fireflight, Worth Dying For, Run Kids Run, Esterlyn, and Capital Lights. TFK was asked to headline a three-show tour in, but was rejected. TFK covered the Christmas song "Jingle Bell Rawk" for Christmas X Christmas album, released by Tooth & amp; Nail notes.

The band reunited with Aaron Sprinkle to co-produce the album (Sprinkle previously produced the album TFK Phenomenon ) with the help of Matt Carter from Emery and Randy Staub (Metallica/Stone Sour/Nickelback/Our Lady Peace). The song "Fire It Up" is featured in video games such as EA Sports NHL 10 and several others and is featured on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra movie trailer. The record was released on September 8, 2009 and peaked at No. 1. 35 on Billboard 200.
In the summer of 2009, McNevan underwent emergency surgery at appendix, causing TFK to cancel at the Creation West Festival (not to be confused with Festival Creations: Tour). He returned to the show a week later. The band appeared in many other festivals, including their debut appearances on Soulfest. Thousand Foot Krutch then announced the fall tour to support the Welcome to Masquerade and during the fall of 2009, TFK appeared again at Festival Creations: Tour, with Jars of Clay, Audio Unplugged, B.Reith, FM Static, and the Beautiful Republic, and as well as Christmas breaks with Thirty Seconds to Mars, Flyleaf, After Midnight Project, and The Veer Union.
