Son Josep TÃÆ' pies i Mestre and Maria Puig i Guerra, Antoni TÃÆ' pies Puig was born in Barcelona on 13 December 1923. His father was a Catalan lawyer and nationalist who served briefly with the Republican government. Because of this, TÃÆ'pies grew up in an environment where he was highly exposed to the cultural and social experiences of leaders in Catalan public life and republicanism. The maternal grandmother also exposed her to this world with great involvement in civil and political activities. TÃÆ' pies was first introduced to contemporary art as he entered high school in 1934. He saw the famous Christmas edition of the magazine, D'acÃÆ' i d'allÃÆ', which contained reproductions of works by artists such as Duchamp, Braque, Kandinsky, and Picasso. At 17, Pies had a near-fatal heart attack caused by tuberculosis. He spent two years as a man recovering in the mountains, reading widely and pursuing an interest in art he had expressed himself when he was an early teenager.
TÃÆ' pies studying at the German School of Barcelona. After studying the law for 3 years, he devoted himself from 1943 onwards only to his paintings. In 1945, the pies began experimenting with more rinse ingredients. He will mix the oil paint with whiting. At this time he also became increasingly interested in philosophy, especially from Sartre as well as Eastern thought. He is known as one of the most famous artists in Spain in the second half of the 20th century. Abstract and avant-gardenya works are displayed in many major museums around the world. In 1954, the pies married Teresa Barba Fabregas. Together they have three children Antoni, Miguel and Clara. He lives mainly in Barcelona and is represented by Galerie Lelong in Paris and the Pace Gallery in New York. TÃÆ' pies died on February 6, 2012. His health has suffered since 2007.

Work
Pies T is probably the most famous Spanish (Catalan) artist to appear in the period since the Second World War. He first dealt with contemporary art as a teenager through the magazine D'AcÃÆ' i D'AllÃÆ' , published in Barcelona, ââand during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), when he was still at school, he taught himself drawing and painting. On a French government scholarship in the early 1950s he lived in Paris, which he often returned. Both in Europe and beyond, the influential French critic and curator, Michel Tapià © enthusiastically promoted the work of Antonies pies.
In 1948, TÃÆ'pies helped co-founded the first Post-War Movement in Spain known as Dau al Set linked to the Surrealist Movement and Dadais. The main leader and founder of Dau al Set is the poet Joan Brossa. This movement also has a publication of the same name, Dau al Set . Pies began as a surrealist painter, whose work was originally influenced by Paul Klee and Joan MirÃÆ'ó; but soon became an informal artist, working in a style known as pintura matÃÆ'èrica , in which non-artistic material was inserted into the painting. In 1953 he began working in mixed media; this is regarded as the most original contribution to art. One of the first to create serious art in this way, he added clay and marble dust to the paint and used scrap paper, rope, and fabric (Gray and Green painting, Tate Gallery, London, 1957). Canvas Burned to Matter from c. 1960, in the collection of the Honolulu Art Museum, is an example of a mixed media mix of artists incorporating the principles of Chest and Surrealism.
The international reputation of TÃÆ' pies was established in the late 1950s. From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, TÃÆ' pies worked with Enrique TÃÆ'ábara, Antonio Saura, Manolo Millares and many other Spanish Informalist artists. In 1966 he was arrested at an underground trial at the University of Barcelona; his work in the early 1970s was marked by the Catalan identity symbol (which is anathema to Franco). In 1974 he made a series of lithographs called Assassins and displayed them at Galerie Maeght in Paris, in honor of the regime's regime of Salvador Puig Antich. From around 1970 (influenced by Pop art) he began to incorporate more substantial objects into his paintings, such as parts of furniture. Tousies ideas have had worldly influences on art, especially in the fields of painting, sculpture, painting and lithography. Examples of his work are found in many major international collections. His work is associated with Tachism and Abstract Expressionism.
The paintings produced by TÃÆ' pies, then in the 1970s and in the 1980s, reveal their application to the aesthetics of this meditative vacuum, for example in spray-painted canvas with linear elements signifying Oriental calligraphy, in paintings - the mixed media mix that expands the vocabulary of Art Informel, and in its satire it tilts into the image in the basic abstract idiom, as in the Footprint of the Basket on Cloth (1980). Among the works of artists related to the style for TÃÆ' pies is the American painter Julian Schnabel as both have been connected to the term "Material" art.
Graphics
Along with the production of images and objects, from 1947 pies to the top continue to be active in the field of graphic work. He produced a large number of books and collector documents closely related to poets and writers such as Alberti, Bonnefoy, Du Bouchet, Brodsky, Brossa, Daive, Dupin, Foix, FrÃÆ'à © mon, Gimferrer, GuillÃÆ'à © n, Jaba, Mestres Quadreny, Mitscherlich, Paz, Saramago, Takiguchi, Ullán, Valente, and Zambrano. In Tousies's graphic work, he was interested in piece material. He tends toward avoiding traditional processes and using everyday imagery such as hand prints and footprints as their subject. TÃÆ'ös enjoys working with concepts such as "high" art and "low" art. He uses embossing, flocking, and indentation with carborundum to help in defining the graphic arts flatness. He involves many paintings, drawings, and collages in his prints and a number of simple materials such as straw, sand and dirt. To achieve innovative techniques, TÃÆ' pies works with certain publishers and printmakers who are inspired by their unique and innovative ideas. Its main producer is La Polagrafa in Barcelona, âââ â¬
TÃÆ' pies has written essays that have been collected in a series of publications, some translated into various languages: La prÃÆ'à ctica de l'art (1970), L'art contra l'estÃÆ'è tica , (1974), MemÃÆ'òria personal (1978), La realitat com a art (1982), Per un art modern i progressista âââ ⬠Valor de l'art (1993) and L'art i els seus llocs (1999). These works include TÃÆ' pies reflect on things like art, life, and politics. He also discusses the role of social art and artist, reflects on the influence of his work, and explains his artistic and political views.
Motion
Throughout his life span Antoni TÃÆ' pies has been associated with a number of movements such as Art Informel and Haute PÃÆ'à ¢ te or Matter Painting. He became part of the avant-garde group Dau al Set in 1948 which is a group that has strong ties with Surrealism. His early works were surrealistic, but in 1953 he began to work in abstract art. This is where he became part of the Art Informel movement and began working with mixed media. Art Informel in Europe is equivalent to Abstract Expressionism in America. This is one of the most prevalent art styles in postwar Europe. In this movement is the category of Matter Painting. His focus on the use of strange objects completely undermines the actions of traditional art. Some of the most famous and original works of TÃÆ' pies are included in this genre. They are characterized by the use of marble dust and clay which he mixes with paint and the incorporation of found objects such as yarn, paper, and cloth. In the late 1960s to early 1970s Tias began to be influenced by the Pop Art movement. Therefore he began to use larger items, such as furniture, in his work.
