Roy is a town in Weber County, Utah, United States, along Interstate 15. The population is 36,884 in the 2010 census. This is part of Ogden-Clearfield, the Metropolitan Utah Statistical Area.

History
Roy was completed in 1873 by William Evans Baker, twenty-five years after Ogden. Most of the surrounding community has been completed before that time. On May 24, 1894, a post office was established. Formerly known as the Central Town, Sandridge, Basin, and Lakeview - Roy was finally named for the local schoolteacher's son, Roy C. Peebles, who had died. The city of Roy was founded on March 10, 1937. Joseph William Jensen was Roy's first mayor for six years, as elected by the commissioners.
Business at Roy was limited until the early 1940s. A gas station, some grocery stores, cafes, and log yards are simple business districts. However, Roy thrived during World War II. Roy accommodates many workers and personnel from adjacent military installations, including Hill Air Force Base, Navy Supply Depotir (now Freeport Center), and Defense Supply Depot.
September 1953 marks a milestone in the history of Roy - Roy receives a charter to establish the first bank branch in the state of Utah. This branch of Bank of Utah pioneered the way for other banks to set up branches across the state. Norton Parker, son of Mayor Dean Parker, is the first manager of the new branch.
Today, Roy has many types of businesses and services. Roy was designated a "Rapid Developing City in Weber County," with a population of 24,603 in 1990 and 36,884 in the 2010 census. There are sewers, gas, and electrical systems and three water systems: channels, culinary water systems, and secondary water systems. A large museum containing Roy memorabilia was built in 1993.

Climate

In the 2010 census, there were 36,884 people, 10,689 households, and 8,604 families living in the city. Population density is 4,853 people per square mile (1,872/km 2 ). There are 11,053 housing units with an average density of 1,455.3 per square mile (561,5/km 2 ). City's racial makeup is 90.75% White, 1.16% African American, 0.59% Native Americans, 1.79% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islands, 3.64% of other races, and 1.96 % of two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race is 7.68% of the population.
There are 10,689 households where 46.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.8% are married couples living together, 10.3% have unmarried female households, and 19.5% are not family. 15.8% of all households were individual and 5.8% had a living person aged 65 or older. The average household size was 3.06 and the average family size was 3.43.
In the city, the population is spread by 33.5% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 16.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% years or more. The average age is 28 years. For every 100 women, there are 97.9 men. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 94.7 men.
The average income for households in the city is $ 49,611, and the average income for families is $ 53,763. Men have an average income of $ 37,286 versus $ 23,793 for women. The per capita income for the city is $ 17,794. About 4.2% of families and 5.5% of the population are below the poverty line, including 7.5% of those under the age of 18 and 1.9% of those aged 65 and older.
