SanDisk is a manufacturer of flash memory products, including memory cards and readers, USB flash drives, and solid state drives. In February 2015, SanDisk was the third largest flash memory producer.
On May 12, 2016, SanDisk was acquired by Western Digital hard drive manufacturer in a deal worth US $ 19 billion.

History
SanDisk was founded in 1988 by Eli Harari, Sanjay Mehrotra and Jack Yuan, who joined at the time as SunDisk. SanDisk's founder, Eli Harari, developed Floating Door EEPROM that proves the practicality, reliability, and durability of semiconductor-based data storage. On May 10, 2000 the Japanese Toshiba Company and SanDisk Company said that they will jointly form a new semiconductor company to produce advanced flash memory, especially for digital cameras.
