The restaurant serves ice cream, frozen yogurt, hamburgers, sandwiches, salads and a breakfast menu. Shops also include a grocery section called "Fresh Market" featuring dairy products, baked goods, beverages, frozen appetizers, meats, and products.
Braum is noteworthy for vertical integration levels. Almost all food products sold in Braum are processed or produced directly by the company; Braum has its own feed mill, a herd of milk, a dairy factory, a bakery, a shop and a delivery truck. It also has eight farms and a farm with a total area of ââ40,000 hectares (160 km 2 ), as well as its dairy farm in Tuttle, Oklahoma. Dairy farms have a set time during which it is open for public tours and is a popular destination for school field trips. Braum's describes herself as the only major ice cream maker to keep milking herself. They also produce packaging used for their dairy products.
History
In 1957, Bill Braum purchased his family's ice-cream processing business based in Emporia, Kansas, as well as his "Peter Pan" retail ice cream network; ten years later, Peter Pan's stores were sold, on condition that the Braum family did not sell ice cream in Kansas for ten years.
After maintaining the business of herd of milk and family ice cream, Braum and his wife Mary started the Braum chain in 1968, opening 24 stores in Oklahoma for the first year. Braum brought the product from Emporia's headquarters to Oklahoma for the first few years, then opened a facility in Oklahoma and moved the flock there in 1975.
Braum runs a series of Ernest P. Worrell ads in the 1980s.
