The Float at Marina Bay , styled as The Float @ Marina Bay and also known as the Marina Bay Floating Platform , is the largest floating stage in the world. Located in the waters of the Marina Reservoir, in Marina Bay, Singapore.
Made entirely of steel, the floating platform at Marina Bay is 120 to 83 meters (394 x 272 feet), which is 5% larger than the soccer field at National Stadium. The platform can last up to 1,070 tons, equivalent to a total weight of 9,000 people, 200 tons of stage props and three 30 tons military vehicles. The gallery in the stadium has a seating capacity of 30,000 people.
The floating stadium will be the venue for the event on Marina Bay waters for five years from 2007. The event may include sports, concerts, exhibitions and art and cultural performances. The National Day Parade is held there every year for five years, as a temporary venue in place of the National Stadium in Kallang which was destroyed to be rebuilt as part of the Singapore Sports Hub.
The stadium is part of the Marina Bay Turn Road Circuit to 17 and 18, which hosts the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix. Worse still, there was Nelson Piquet, Jr. crashing his car which caused the controversy of the Formula One Renault crash.
Following Singapore's success to host the 2010 Summer Olympics, the floating stadium was in the spotlight during the Olympics, as the venue for the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies.

Histori
The idea of ââa floating platform was conceived by the organizers of the National Day Parade, 2007. In 2004, Colonel Teo Jing Siong, chairman of the committee, was asked to find a new place for the National Day Parade as National Stadium will be destroyed to pave the way for the new Singapore Sports Hub. Teo has considered the Great Street Stadium, Singapore Turf Club and Marina South before settling in Marina Bay, partly because of the cityscape that will form the backdrop for the parade. The Singapore government is evaluating that the temporary stadium is a cost-effective solution in exchange for the closure of the National Stadium which is under renovation for 8 years.
In 2005, the Teo committee worked with the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and the Singapore Sports Council on floating platform design, which can also be used to host other major events.
After the design was completed, the contractor, SembCorp Marine, started floating platform development in March 2006. This phase took 13 months to build, and in April 2007, the platform and seating gallery was completed and officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

Construction
Many considerations are considered during the design phase for the construction of floating platforms. The Defense Science and Technology Agency, the main planner and platform developer, should remember not only the size and burden it can bear, but also ensure its structure can be relocated and reconfigured to meet the requirements of various events.
As a result, the platform is made up of a smaller pontoon platform, each comprising hundreds of sections. 200 pontoons are dreamed up, but the unique connector system allows this number to be reduced to 15, which interlocks like a jigsaw puzzle. It takes a month to be assembled. The connectors are designed to be lightweight yet powerful.
Six pylons are fitted to the seafloor as the foundation of the structure. Heavy-duty rubber rollers are used to guide the stage gently vertically to avoid shocks by currents and currents. The three connecting lanes, which connect the floating platform to the ground, have special integrated joints to keep them stable.
The floating platform should also be aesthetically pleasing to match the beautiful backdrop of the hotel belt at Marina Center. This limits the height of the seating gallery. Existing structures and regional development plans limit the number of seats at 30,000.
This platform has been equipped with various innovative features, such as internal drainage system, cable structure, and lightning rod.
Events
The first major event held at the floating stadium was the National Day Parade in 2007. This was followed by the Singapore Fireworks Celebrations held on 17 and 18 August 2007.
On August 25, 2007, the stadium was used to launch Waterfest Singapore 2007 for six weeks, featuring stunts and performances by the water ski team and professional wakeboard. On September 2, 2007, the platform was the starting and ending point for the Aviva Ironman 70.3 triathlon Singapore.
From 15 September 2007 to 16 April 2008, the floating stadium was closed for Formula One work in preparation for the Singapore Grand Prix in September 2008. The National Day Parade was held on floating platforms from 2007 to 2017, except 2010 and 2016 where it was held at Sports Hub and Padang respectively.
The Urban Redevelopment Authority has been exploring the 30,000-seater gallery seating area available to the public to see fireworks during the New Year's Eve festivities at Marina Bay in December 2007, after which it also used these stadiums on each countdown until 2015 and shifted to Suntec City.
In November 2008, the Singapore Cup final between SAFFC and Woodlands Wellington FC was supposed to take place at the stadium. However, issues related to metal beams that produce shadows in the field forces the match to be played at the Great Street Stadium instead. The first football game to be played on the platform is an ESPZEN Champions League amateur match between the Greedy Athletic Master and VNNTU FC.
In August 2010, the stadium was the main stadium for Youth Youth Olympic Games 2010. On 2 October 2010, the stadium became the venue for the graduation parade of recruits from the Armed Forces Army Basic Training Center of Singapore. Previously, the parade was held in Tekong Island itself.
On November 23, 2012, S.M. Entertainment artists include Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, Shinee, f (x), and EXO appeared to a crowd of 18,000 fans as part of their SMTown Live World Tour III concert.
Future Plan for Stadium
The Marina Bay floating platform will be redeveloped into a permanent space commemorating the National Service (NS).
It will be renamed NS Square, and will serve as the main venue for the National Day Parade.
"We will expand the platform to open larger and more accessible space, and increase the current seating capacity so that more Singaporeans can join the parade," Mr Lee said at a dinner reception held on a floating platform to mark 50 years National Service.
The Prime Minister added that under the stands, there will be a "purpose-built" gallery to showcase the NS Singapore trip and highlight the contributions of the National Soldier generation.
