Oaks Shopping Center is a two-level indoor/outdoor indoor shopping center located in Thousand Oaks, California. Owned and managed by Macerich. Accessible from the US Highway 101 Ventura Freeway between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, this is one of two malls in the area (competing with Simi Valley Town Center) and the largest shopping center in Ventura County. More than five million visit the mall every year.
The 1,300,000-square-foot mall was originally built in 1978 and renovated in 1993. Beginning in February 2007, the center has undergone extensive upgrades including interior finishes, toilets, entrances canopies and skylights to reflect modern and modern influenced Spanish and Santa Barbara designs. The expansion included the demolition of the then-empty Broadway building and the 14th-floor theater theater of Muvico and Bogarts, a full-service restaurant, was built in its place. Additional features include a 10-unit Spanish Dining Hall and amenities such as a family toilet with granite, tiled stones and limestone tiles. Centered at the theater are four sit-down restaurants: Lazy Dog Cafe and Red Robin, both of which are connected to 112,330 square feet (10,436 m 2 ) of retail expansions in outdoor environments, while Olive Garden and Red Lobster are located opposite parking lot. The Cheesecake Factory is located within the Shopping Center with a terrace dining available.
It has featured several fashion shows highlighting the latest fashion in retail stores. The show is produced by Marilyn Shore Studios.
The annual ArtWalk presented by the Conejo Valley Museum of Art takes place at The Oaks. It features art, craft designers, outdoor exhibits and live music.
